Dara brings over 25 years of experience covering the entire spectrum of the retail and wholesale industry. A lifelong passion began on the sales floor of Nordstrom and Robinson’s department stores working up thru various manager and central buying office positions. Using her knowledge of retail, Dara expanded her expertise into wholesale apparel by developing fashion trends, seasonal color palettes, and style direction for programs with diverse customers including GAP, JCPenny, Warner Brothers, and Nordstrom.
Combining her passion for retail and love of animals led Dara to establish her own pet grooming store, Wags to Whiskers, using a business plan she developed. It grew to be the most successful in all of Long Beach, CA, with her eventually selling store in 2011. Seeing an opportunity in the market for pet accessories led to her creation of the Hot Bows brand in 2004, which she still operates today.
In 2013 while assisting the company that had bought her grooming business get back on track and increase sales with a specially designed buy plan, employee training, merchandising revision, and intense sales analysis, Dara began to form the foundation of what has become Retail Therapy Consulting, a company run by experts and designed to help retailers reignite that spark in their business.
